LLanhydroc woods

Did some more work on my Woodland since Zoe wanted to see its progress. I knocked back some of the background and then started to move forwards through the woods again I have a lot to do here.

KARTOON KATE

OK so here are photos of my progress in the Studio.

Firstly KARTOON KATE I made a little armature out of florists wire

Then I sprayed mount spray on to scraps of silver paper and wrapped them around the wire. For those of you who recognise this it is a byproduct of Christmas Recycle everything these are Quality Street Wrappers.

Organised Studio

I continued organising my studio as I worked today and here are a few pictures.
My Lovely Workbench

Further along Bench
Note my old sewing machine table is now tucked in the corner and I am waiting for the man that does to put castors on it as I like to drag it out as a work table next to my easel.

Racking along the wall

I have brought my books down a shelf and am reboxing all my bits and pieces

Paint Brushes Jars and Stuff on top shelf
Easel Corner
In this corner I can Now stack my easels and all my different paint palettes
My Main Easel

Here I can have my main easel next to the window for best light

And finally a view of the woods with a little more work done.

Rearranging My Studio

I have been having quite a productive week getting my brain organised and my studio too.

We have taken out my original free standing rack which I now realise killed the usable space on that side in a very small studio.

I have been through my "stuff" and chucked out a load of Roundtoits if you know what I mean.

My manservant has made me a workbench on hinged brackets which can either be up and workable or dropped down out of the way.

I have hung a couple of paintings above it while I decide what to do with them. The trees is incomplete by the way.

More Dahlia

Having worked in Acrylic I have to keep reminding myself that oils dont dry so quick. A larger canvas would help as I could work in different areas. Instead I am going to have to learn - PATIENCE which unluckily is not one of my virtues.

Here I have added a little more colour to various areas of the flower.

Follow on from Horses Head

Nothing ventured nothing Gain following on from my horses head experience I am going the whole hog (ok Horse) and having a bash at the full thing.

This is being done in my kitchen as I have oils out on the ironing board and havent moved anything back into my studio yet. This is a diagram of horse anatomy off the internet.

New Year New Medium - Dahlia in Oils probably

I was given a lovely boxed set of Winsor and Newton Oil paints for Christmasby my Long Suffering partner and it has me all excited.

I did evening classed when I was about 20 and as part of the course dabbled in oils now I just want more. Its been 36 years since I did anything with oil painting.

I stupidly thought lets start off with something small while I get used to the medium so I chose a 7 by 5 canvas I had lying around. I am working in my conservatory as it has been to cold to work in my studio. I am using my ironing board as a work bench.

I primed with a mix of Winsor Blue white and a bit of Burnt sienna then drew out the flower in charcoal. Trying to use a very thin mix of Oils while I find my way around.

Added more colour and did my favourite naughty trick - oh well I have a palette knife and colour lets plaster some colour on the background.
As I am using my ironing board I have put an old redundant road Atlas down to protect the surface.Well when I say protected it will be for all of about 5 minutes.

Wow First post of 2011 - Head complete

Today though is for tidying up my art stuff as it is stacked in conservatory at the moment.
